今回はTechnology Professionalsを中心に英語の個人指導を長年手がけてこられたDavid Blake 先生をお招きし、英語学習に関するセミナーを開催しました。


セミナー概要
英語力の向上のための3つのポイント
1. Pronunciation
2. Sentence Structure
3. Vocabulary
最重要なのは、 Pronunciation, Sentence Structure、その次にVocabulary
1. Pronunciation
発音が正しくないと相手に伝わらない、故に最も重要。
簡単に習得する方法はない。
集中して練習する期間が必要。
Native Speaker の友人知人に手伝ってもらい正しく発音しているか確認することを心がける
2. Sentence Structure
Sentence Structure の習得とは
英文を構成している要素を流れにそって処理し、文意を理解するということ
3. Vocabulary
Word definitionから学ぶ必要はない
本を読んで語彙を増やすことを勧める
– Sentence Structureの習得に役立つ
– 記憶に残りやすい
コンテクストから語彙をひろって習得
– 映画、ラジオ、日常生活、読書等の機会を利用

●セミナーについて
Japanese professionals usually have significant problems with the English language, despite many years of careful study. Why should this be so?
This interactive seminar will focus on the reasons that English is so difficult to master. It will provide an overview of the three language components that must each be strong to achieve professional mastery. Using example errors from the audience, the instructor will demonstrate how easily such errors can be fixed when proper understanding is brought to the problem.
Each person attending the seminar will receive a packet of materials which may provide a big step forward in his or her English skill.

Speaker’s Bio:
David Blake has taught English to foreign professionals and their families
for nearly 15 years. He has a degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from San Jose State University, and is a former Regents Scholar at the University of California.
David’s initial training in English teaching was at Berlitz. He left Berlitz in 1995 to start his own language service, abcENGLISH, and to develop more logical, more scientific teaching methods. Over the years, he has helped nearly 500 students, mostly Japanese, to improve their English.
