スカイライン・ベンチャーズでベンチャーキャピタリストとして活躍されている金子恭規氏をお招きし、セミナーを開催します。

金子氏は慶応大学医学部を卒業後、スタンフォード大学のMBAを取得、まだスタートアップだった頃のGenentechのプロジェクトに参画されたという経歴の持ち主。今回のセミナーでは事前にトピックを設定せず、JTPAボードメンバーの渡辺千賀氏が「徹子の部屋」スタイルで参加者の皆様からの質問を中心に金子氏にあれこれお話を伺うインタラクティブな会にしたいと思います。参加ご希望の方は、「金子氏に聞いてみたいこと」を1−2行簡単にご記載してお申し込みください。

Yasunori Kaneko, M.D.

Managing Director

Skyline Ventures in Palo Alto, CA

Yasunori Kaneko is managing director of Skyline Ventures, which was
founded in 1997. Skyline Ventures is a nationally-known venture
capital firm that specializes in investing in outstanding
product-focused healthcare companies. It currently has $800 million
under management.

Dr. Kaneko has been involved in managing and financing U.S. life
sciences companies since 1981. He began his career at Genentech, where
he spearheaded its business development activities for the first
several years. He was then project leader for the launch of Protropin
(human growth hormone), the first product marketed by Genentech.

In 1987, he became head of corporate finance in the investment banking
division of Paribas Capital Markets LTD in Tokyo, where he helped
finance Japanese government agencies, municipalities and corporations
in the Euromarkets. He also led fund raising for numerous life
sciences companies.

In 1991, he then became senior vice president and CFO of Isis
Pharmaceuticals in San Diego, which went public during his tenure. In
1992, he was recruited to be the original business executive at
Tularik Inc., where at various times he was CFO and vice president of
business development until its public offering in 1999. At Tularik,
Dr. Kaneko led a series of financings and negotiations of a number of
corporate partnerships. Tularik was acquired by Amgen in 2004. He
served on the board of LeukoSite until its merger with Millennium
Pharmaceuticals in 1999 while he was an officer of Tularik.

Dr. Kaneko currently serves on the advisory council of the Stanford
Graduate School of Business and on the advisory board of the Freeman
Spogli Institute of International Studies at Stanford University. He
served as a member of the board of trustees of Lick-Wilmerding High
School in San Francisco. He is on the board of directors of Miraca
Holdings listed in Tokyo Stock Exchange.

He earned a medical degree from Keio University School of Medicine in
Tokyo in 1978, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of
Business in 1981.

Born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan, Dr. Kaneko and his wife, Yumi,
live in Hillsborough, California, and have two children.
